I have travelled many times on a ship .Once also on Harsha Vardhan the SCI passenger ship which was gutted after a fire accident. Harsha Vardhan cruise was a great experience when we travelled from Port Klang to Chennai .The ship was quite luxurious with very comfortable cabins for passengers and entertainment every day in the evenings , a swimming pool, a theater and indoor games..I have also travelled quite extensively on cargo ships along with my husband who is a Merchant navy engineer,The experience there was different since it is also work based with not many people on board.Only the senior officers are allowed to take their families so not many ladies which in my case was not a disadvantage .I had all the time to read from an extensive library and also watch movies in the small theater on the ship and to enjoy the spectacles of sea which looks different each day and also the thrill you feel when you get close to some obscure islands.I would go down the ship with the cadets to test the life boats in the open sea which is something I will never forget. We even went to a small island in Pacific ocean which was totally uninhibited while ship was undergoing maintenance and had anchored in the sea. Another very sweet experience we had was that of a group of whales that began travelling with the ship for almost a week. We could see them every day and they disappeared once we came closer to land .. I am hoping that I could do one more voyage in the near future ...

I travelled by ship to an inland destination. It did not last for 8 hours. But I had an experience of my life.though I was given a cabin along with another passenger who was traveling by sea for the first time, he happened to be an artist. All my time was spent in discussing about art with my cabin mate. As I said the voyage did not last for long time, I had an opportunity to exchange my views with a great master. Barring this I did not have sea related experience during my short trip.

Never.
It's my dream to travel by ship or air. Unfortunately I have never travelled in both these ways.

My poetic mind says, it's beautiful to sail on water than travel through air. But the journey should be short, to remain as beautiful

I have never traveled by a ship so far, it is my dream to go on an Alaska cruise, maybe some years down the line.
But I have traveled by a large ferry boat on the river Vashishti in Konkan. The journey was of about 5 hours only but it was quite a memorable one as we got the opportunity to absorb the daily lives of the local coastal people and fishermen.

I had travelled by a steamer many a time from Patna to Muzaffarpur and vice versa. At present, I don't remember how long it took to reach the destination but the journey used to be quite enjoyable.

suni51 That service no more exists (Pehleja Ghat to Mahendru Ghat on Patna- Chapra) since they have constructed a bridge over Ganga. I have also traveled by that ship service at least 20 times. :) - suni51 - 7 years ago
