The Power of your Vocabulary:

In your everyday life, the words that often crop up in your talking, either with others or with yourself has the power to change the way you experience different situations. These words produce a bio chemical effect that directly affects your nervous system. To make the best use of our daily vocabulary, and thereby change our lives and give our destiny a positive tinge, it is essential that we choose the words we would like to use. These words should have power, a sense of joy, and a feeling of fulfilment. For example, if you tell yourself that you are a good for nothing person, and don't have the skills to come up in life, it will indeed become a self fulfilling prophecy, which over a period of time will establish us as failures not only to ourselves but to the outside world as well. Just change the wording and see what difference it can make to your life." I did fail, but I am definitely smarter in my own way. I don't have the skills, but it is never too late to learn one. My immediate job is to prove that I can succeed in the very same task I considered myself a failure."230px-Greek-English Lexicon

And most important, we need to increase our vocabulary of such words on a daily basis. One simple way to master the technique of such words is to adapt words used by people who are happy and successful in life. In this way we can replicate the emotional patterns of these positive people and lead a happy and successful life. There may be times when words we used in the past which were disempowering pops up now and then. Make it a point to mentally picture the words being thrown into the garbage bin. And in its place, substitute the words you learned and stored in your vocabulary basket.

Make your emotions count :

Emotions are nothing but an intimation letter telling you to take appropriate action. There is no such thing called negative emotion. It is a wake up call telling you that some area of your life needs some mending. If you don't heed that call, then, over a period of time it will turn into a full blown crisis. Always keep in mind that emotions are your servants who serve you in a benign way. But they become unruly masters the moment you ignore its existence.300px-Challenge vs_skill.svg

Six steps in mastering emotions:

1. Identify what you are really feeling. Ask yourself "What am I really feeling right now?" Be unbiased and neutral when you decipher the feeling. See it the way an outsider does, without contributing your own personal inputs. This will lower the emotional intensity you are experiencing and make it easier for you to deal with it in a better way.

2. Give your emotions their rightful due. Appreciate them for the valuable insights they provide, which otherwise would have gone unnoticed.

3. Show enthusiasm and curiosity whenever an emotion shows up on your mental radar. The more interest you show, the more effective will be the solution.

4. Be sure of yourself. Whenever an emotion seems to go out of hand, remember a time when you faced a similar emotion and realize  how well you handled the situation.

5. Re-run the image of how you handled a certain situation and rehearse it. Think of alternative ways you could handle that situation effectively.

6. Make it a point to take action on an emotion, even if it is only a small measure. And it is always better to deal with an emotion the moment you begin to feel it.
