Well in this part we will see some common and typical errors that may occur and how to avoid them....enjoy reading...

What Is Error Correction?

It is a process which involves corrections in spelling, grammatical functions, punctuation errors, leaving out unnecessary lines.

Error With Nouns:

1. Some nouns always take a singular verb.

For Example: Mathematics, Physics, News......

Mathematics are a good subject.

Mathematics is a good subject.......well you can see the difference clearly, where you could misunderstand is that you may consider mathematics as plural....

2.Some nouns are singular form, but they are used as plural nouns.

For Example: Trousers, Shorts,Thanks......

Where is my trousers?

Where are my trousers?

Spectacles is now a costly item.

Spectacles are now a costly item.

Error With ProNouns:

1.The pronoun 'one' must be followed by one's....

For Example: One must finish his task in time.

One must finish one's task in time.

2.'Who denotes the subject and 'whom' denotes the object....

For Example: Whom do you think won the award?

Who do you think won the award?

Who are you talking to?

Whom are you talking to?

3. When a singular and plural noun are joined by 'or','nor' the pronoun must be plural...

For Example: Either the engineer or his mechanics failed in his study.

Either the engineer or his mechanics failed in their study.

Error With Verb:

1.'Many a' always followed by the singular verb.

For Example: Many a man were drowned in the sea.

Many a man was drowned in the sea.

2. If the subject is 'the number of' the singular verb is used..

For Example: The number of students are very small..

The number of students is very small..

3.If the subject is 'a number of' the singular verb is used....

For Example: A number of books is missing

A number of books are missing..

Some Additional Errors:

1.Though is not followed by 'but'.....

For Example: Though he is poor but he is honest

Though he is poor, he is honest

2.  'Scarcely' and 'hardly' are followed by 'when' and not by 'than'....

For Example: I had scarcely entered the room than the phone rang.

I had scarcely entered the room when the phone rang.
