Health –Nutrition and diet

 

“Health is wealth “one of the famous sayings makes everyone realize how important health is in anyone’s life.  Health should be the priority and good care should be taken to remain healthy. Healthy food is the best medicine for any disease.

Eating healthy and nutritious food always helps the body to be strong and immune. Food which contains lot of nutrients gives support to our body’s metabolic functions. These days’ lots of people also go for nutritional supplements which are available in the market for example – liquids, capsules etc.  Most important point to remember are nutritional supplements can never be replaced by regular meals which are taken every day, nutrition can only improve your health. One of the main reasons to take nutritional supplements is environment. Now-a-days because of change in environment, there are more toxins in the air, food, water etc.

It is known fact that there are 5 most important food groups which are fruits, vegetables, dairy, cereals and pulses, poultry, Fish and meat products.  The diet of these food groups is said to be balanced and healthy diet. Unhealthy food, in the long run might lead to chronic diseases such as heart strokes, cancer etc. Right amount of nutrients with sufficient amount of water helps the body to be fit.

Some of the examples of healthy diet –

1.       Good amount of vitamins and fiber is very beneficial to health; fiber lowers cholesterol and vitamins helps to improve health.

 

2.       Proteins are necessary for growth of the body because it consists of amino acids which are very much essential for growth. Meet is considered to be high protein food.

 

3.       Carbohydrates are converted into different forms in the body after consumption. One of the forms is s important source of energy used by brains. High or low amount of carbohydrates might be harmful.

 

4.       Energy depends upon the food which we intake, if more energy is absorbed from food, chances of gaining weight is high.

 

5.       Fat –Fat can be stored in the body if food intake is inadequate which of course can be used for later use. Fat helps in forming the cell membranes.

 

6.       Minerals like calcium, potassium, salt, iron etc should be used in right amount, if not used in right amount, it might be harmful.

   Tips for Healthy eating –

1.       Eat in a timely manner – Eating breakfast will be the perfect start of the day. Eating small and healthy meals throughout the day is healthy compared to having regular three meals a day.

 

2.       Stress – Stress can put your body down as it is one of the factors of the body. Always avoid stress while eating; this will help in proper digestion of food. Relax your body and mind completely before you begin to eat.

 

3.       Chew your food properly –Enjoy you food by chewing finely, this will help in digestion of food.

 

Uses of fruits and vegetables –

 

Vegetables – Vegetables are most important part of healthy diet as high amount of minerals, vitamins, calcium etc will be available in vegetables especially green leafy vegetables.

 

Fruits – Always prefer to eat fresh or frozen fruits.  Fruits contain lots of vitamins, fiber and antioxidants.

 

Fruits and vegetables should be taken with every meal.
