Taste buds are important 

If you think that, you are not enjoying your snacks like before even if you are not on any medication that could be a sign of serious problem. On the other hand, if you are not finding the same taste in dishes without any proper reason, you must have yourself checked for Taste buds failure syndrome. Excess of intake of junk foods is one of the possible reasons and should be on your top priority as this may lead to serious health problems. 

Tea, Chowmein, Samosa, cold drinks, pizza or burger are common fast foods for most of us with a slight change as coffee may replace tea or Samosa by any other similar item but not by much. The main reason for sensitivity disorder is sudden change in items with different flavors and tastes. If you are consuming sweet, sour, salty and bitter at the same time is reason enough to suffer your taste buds adversely. Reduction in sensitivity of taste buds is in itself a serious problem as it can affect the quality of your life but can lead to different other serious problems. Let us have a look at the functions of taste buds before going into details of disorders related to taste buds. 

Taste buds 

DSC02232These are sensory organs located mostly at tongue, throat and mouth, which identify different tastes. These taste buds, which are different in nature approximately ten thousand in quantity are mostly scattered on tongue.

I have tried to show the different taste buds in different colors to give you an idea as to where these buds sense different tastes. The taste buds send the signal to brain cells as soon as you eat any thing and you know and enjoy that particular flavor instantly

Identifying problem – whenever our taste buds fail to identify the taste of food we eat, we do not find them tasty and that lack of taste kills our interest in food subsequently.

There are four basic tastes

As every one knows that, our taste buds are capable of identifying only four tastes – sweet, sour, bitter and salty and if there appears any other taste that only harms our taste buds. Every food items including grains, pulses, fruits, vegetables etc available naturally have these four tastes only and if any other taste is available, that is not natural but flavor produced by chemicals mostly used in junk foods to give these a different taste. Taste buds take an extra effort to identify the synthetic taste, which is not suitable for mechanism of taste buds and immensely harms them.

Taste disorder may lead to smell disorder that too affects taste-identifying capacity up to a great extent as in case we cannot smell then this is hard to identify a flavor. For instance try chocolates closing your nose, you would not know the exact flavor of it because you enjoy a chocolate with its smell along with your taste buds. You may also suffer from taste disorder problem due to long medicinal treatment for any ailment or oral infection.       

Children should have good addiction

Surprised- but that is a fact that most children develop taste for different foods by the time they reach six therefore this is advisable to make them habitual of eating natural food items so that they develop a good taste and would love to eat healthy. For your information the junk food especially Chinese preparations, burger or pizza have artificial tastes along with natural, which craves due to addiction for artificial taste. You should know few particular points here- 

  1. Chinese cuisines develop an addiction that may damage your taste buds besides spicy and oily can also cause tumors
  2. Once the taste buds become weak, people tend to eat spicier to compensate for the lost taste from the food items but that can lead to ulcers.
  3. If the food becomes tasteless that causes lesser saliva production, which is helpful for digestion
  4. The obvious fact that taste disorder simply effects the eating habits, which make most people unable to eat properly and suffer from health problems 
  5. Bad taste buds can make you eat spoiled food and that too is a reason for your lack of interest in food.  

Finally

This is okay to eat junk food for a change once in a while but eating it regularly would certainly spoil your taste buds forever. This is healthy to take a heavy breakfast that helps your cause in multiple ways. That prevents you from going for junk food because you do not feel hungry for long time. In addition, this is better to mold your habits towards healthier food to avoid junk food. You can also try different soups to get your appetite back and taste buds back to normal.

Please note- that when I write Chinese food that does not mean that all Chinese foods are bad but the ones popular as junk foods sold in unhygienic conditions without maintaining any standards. Picture is not based on scale.
