It was Sunday. Ruby was going on a picnic. She was very happy. Her father was cleaning the car. Her mother was packing food in a basket. `mother, do not forget to pack the cake!’ said Ruby. `Oh, no!’, said Ruby’s father, `It’s raining!’

Ruby ran towards the window. She saw the falling rain. He grew very sad. `Father will not take me for the picnic now’, thought Ruby. Ruby went to his mother. Where does the rain come from mother?’ asked Ruby.

`Rain is the water that falls from the clouds in the sky,’ said mother. `But we do not need the rain, mother,’ said Ruby. `No’, Ruby, you are wrong. We all need rain,’ said mother.

`Rain gives us water. We all need water’, said mother. `But mother, why does it rain on a Sunday?’ asked Ruby.

Ruby’s mother smiled. `Ruby, come I will read out a story’, said mother. She picked up a book and read out story to Ruby. The story was good. Father joined them too. It was still raining out side. They ate some cakes and fruits.

`Are you coming for a drive?’ asked father. Ruby said, yes. The three of them went for a drive in a car. It was a fun.

Ruby was not thinking about the picnic, anymore. He was having fun now. His parents were smiling. They were happy too.

 Ruby has fever

Ruby woke up in the morning, she was not feeling well. Her body was hot. Ruby’s mother came into Ruby’s room.

`Good morning,’ said mother. `Good morning, mother!’ said Ruby. Are you not well?’ asked mother.

`Shall we go to see the doctor?’ asked mother. `Yes, mother,’ said Ruby.

When Ruby fell ill, she went to see the doctor. Ruby went to Dr. Ramesh’s clinic. Dr. Ramesh was a kind man. Dr. Ramesh saw Ruby and said, `sit down, please.’ Ruby sat down.

Dr. Ramesh said, `open your mouth, let me see your tongue.’ Ruby opened her mouth. Then Dr. Ramesh looked into Ruby’s eyes. He tapped Ruby’s chest.

`You have fever, Ruby,’ said Dr. Ramesh. The doctor gave Ruby some medicine. He said, `Stay in bed. Take a good rest. Take the medicine on time. You will feel better soon.’

Ruby did as the doctor said. She felt better soon.
