India is a big country with more than 70% of its population living in the villages. The life in villages is simple. The main occupation of the people living in villages is farming. The affairs of the villages are looked after by the `panchyats’.

People live in mud houses. The streets are laid with the bricks. Most of the villages are not connected by rail. Some of the villages are not even connected by road also. People use bullock carts, cycles or walk to travel to other places. Villages have primary school and health center. Some villages also have veterinary center.

We depend on villages for many of our needs like food grains, vegetables, milk and many things needed for industry. People in villages also depended on towns for things like medicines and other items like tractor and machines for farming etc.

Villages are more in our country. Agriculture is the main occupation for the villagers. Farmers cultivate crops in their lands.

Farmers use ploughs for tilling the land.

Now-a –days, they are using tractors for tilling the land and fertilizers for the well-growth of the crops.

Farmers sow seeds to get seedlings to grow paddy.

They transplant these young plants distantly in the filed.

Farmers spray `pesticides’ and insecticides’ to save their crops from various plant diseases.

Paddy is the main food grain in our country.

It grows well in states like west Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Utter Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Punjab, and Bihar.

Besides paddy and wheat, farmers produce vegetables, fruits, pulses and root vegetables also. We take all these as our food.

The crops that give more income to the farmers are called `Commercial Crops’.

Tobacco and cotton are some examples of commercial crops.

Crops like coffee, tea grow well in hilly areas.

We get tea powder from the leaves of tea plants.

We get coffee-powder from the nuts of coffee plants.

We get from jute plants. Gunny bags are made of fiber.

Sugar and jaggery are prepared from sugar cane.

It crops grow well; people can lead their lives happily.

That is a village, near a green field with full of plants. Farmer of this owner is growing crop. He is facing to ready loss or profit, he had no fear he can not afraid for loss and he will cultivate again. So he is great man. He is a small farmer but he had big brave.

India is mainly an agricultural country with most of the people living in villages. A majority of the Indian population engaged in agriculture. The farmer works hard. He is growing food for the country and his countrymen but keeps his own belly half starved. His life is hard as his income is low. He continues to live in ignorance, poverty and undernourishment.

Many of the village has been electrified and modern amenities of living have been provided. There are better facilities for health and sanitation, better housing, better roads and bus convenient.

The farmer who used to be a victim of rituals and superstitions and was in complete ignorance about the affairs of the world has now started coming up in his mental make up and education with the help of the radio, TV and other influences which come from the cities.

Most villages now have schools and adult education centers where the farmer has the chance to brighten his out look. In the recent past tried to make agriculture more paying by increasing the price of wheat, rice and other products. In this way more money is flowing to the village and enabling the village farmer to have better standard of living.

The Indian farmer is now more conscious of the new trends and methods. He is learning better ways of agriculture. He is now availing of the village co-operatives, the Panchyat, the tractors, fertilizers and also making use of the co-operative societies for better sale of products.

He is developing a scientific out look on all his personal and social problems. Development projects have given new ideas and felicities to the village farmer.
