Hi friends, through the PROVERB SERIES, I would to share/discuss about certain proverbs in detail with a story or explanation.

In this PROVERB SERIES-1 article, the proverb that I have taken is:
WHERE THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS A WAY.

A great Sanskrit scholar and poet Bharthruhari divided people into three categories: those who do not undertake to do anything; who no doubt undertakes to do, but never complete it and lastly those who complete the task whatever it may be.

There is none in the world who does not want to become someone in particular. But the path leading to fame and name is not strewn with lilies and roses; often it is full of stones and thorns. You need courage and conviction to undertake this uphill journey. Many people may despair at the very thought of these great road blocks. And such people will never undertake to do anything real and substantial. They are the people who belong to the first category accounting to Bharthruhari.

The second type of people undertakes to do something; but they do not know how to get over the dangers and difficulties that confront them; they despair and retreat. They are the weak minded and chicken hearted the people who lack determination.

But the third category of people is the one who do not pause or rest until they reach their destination. Difficulties will not deter them, dangers will never despair them. With an iron will and an undaunted spirit they march ahead surmounting difficulty after difficulty. For such people nothing is impossible, the Himalayas are not too high to climb, the moon is not too far to reach.

But all of us are not Tenzing, Bismarck and Alexander. Humble as we are, we too have our tasks to perform and hurdles to cross. And they need not dishearten or despair us. With a firm conviction in the values we hold dear, we should proceed undaunted by the hurdles. We too can do what others have done. Surely we can find the way if only we have a will to do.

So be strong and there is always a path created for you. If not create a path for others to follow you.
