IPL 4 WITH NO KOCHI TUSKERS KERALA Kochi Tuskers’ can be easily established as the team that created the most uproar in the Indian premier league. The team that played the Indian premier league season 4 was terminated by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 19 September 2011. This was after the team Franchise had defaulted on an Rs 156 crore annual payment it was supposed to pay the BCCI. The BCCI further on their part decided to encash the bank guarantee which the tuskers had given to the BCCI when the franchisee was bought. It is worth noting that the franchisee had been bought earlier by the consortium comprising some Gujarat-based businessmen for a whopping Rs 1,550 crore in the year 2010. As per the rules, franchisee had to pay the amount in 10 installments. The consortium had just one Keralite in the name of vivek venugopal. The team franchisee invited a lot of criticism during the auction for the selection of a team that really lacked depth. The team had no Indian batsman capable to win the matches. Franchise relied on its foreign batsman to take charge. But the rules of the ipl allow only 4 foreign players to be in the 11 member team. This was the rule that the franchisee owners forgot to cash on. Even though the team had capable players like Mahela jayawardane and Brendon Mcullum, the franchisee did not make any impact in the IPL. Now it has to be seen what happens to the players when the team is terminated. The BCCI will have to conduct another auction for all the players contracted by the Kochi tuskers. Further the fixtures and the game structure will require another revamp as the number of teams has just reduced. Waiting for an IPL with no Kochi tuskers Kerala and a tournament with 9 teams. But the IPL will go on and the absence of this team will never be felt to anyone once the game rolls on in may next year..……..
