India wins 100th Test.
India on 27th November 2009, regestered 100th test cricket win. I think this is a moment that should be celebrated as a festival. Our earlier generation will look it as a surprise. I am sure that they wont even have dreamt about this many wins.
India won its first test match against England's secondary team, and that too 20years after test cricket started. At that time Endland used to send only secondary team to India. First that team defeated India & then India took the revenge. At that time three teams were considered strong England, Australia & West Indies. India won its first big win against against Australia at Kanpur in 1956-1960 Series. And that too because of Jasu Patel's 9 & 5 total 15 wickets. With just that single performance he won Padmashree award. India won its first outdoor test in the year 1967 - 35 years after test cricket started. It was against Newzealand which was just like India, not a big Team.
But the incident that made Indians proud was happened in the year 1971. Under Ajit Wadeker's Capatancy, India defeated West Indies on their home ground. Then After six month Defeated England in England. At that time test win was celebrated just like a diwali festival.
At that time draw was treated as win. Most of the time, India, from first ball itself played to draw the match. Then Tiger Pataudi (Father of our Saif Ali Khan) became the captain of our test cricket & changed the attitude of our team. He gave the confidence to players that our team can win.
Later came the period of Kapil Dev. He took Indian team to International level. Then slowly the graph of Indian cricket team started improving. And in last Ten years it is improving very fast. The reason, our team has stoped feeling inferior to other's. And the credit goes to Saurav Ganguly. The second thing, the bats men like Sacin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly, Virendra Sehwag, V V S Laxman with their Very Very Special Innings lifted the batting lineup & started creating milestones of Runs in India and Abroad.
And that's why our earlier generation is surprised to see the thing, that they were not dreamt of. Sometimes those things do happen that we can't dream about...
