Jail term for cow slaughter.. but nothing like that for rape. Why? What is the logic?

Just came across this new item. It says the Gujarat assembly has passed a bill punishing people with life time imprisonment for cow slaughter. I do not wish to discuss the good and bad of this decision.. but my question is when bills like this are getting passed.. why nothing concrete is happening to ensure the safety and security for the ladies? why no bill or law against rape culprits.. why the women have to go through the trauma of cases in which ultimately the culprit manages to be free or innocent?

    I would rather not comment in cow slaughter because for some it is as sensitive an issue. However rape cases are now booked under section 376 which carries a sentence of  7 years to life. . Very recently 5 people were booked under section 376 in a gang rape case involving 2 minor girls ,who were kidnapped and raped in front of their father , in Gujrat !

    Ban on cow slaughter is more a religious issue. Ban on cow slaughter is a state subject and so there are different rules in states. Thee is no such ban in North Est, West Bengal and Kerala   The crimes against women is gender issue. A woman has right to her own body and nobody can be permitted even to touch her inappropriately.  There is law against rape and other offences of sexual nature. There is need to change the way men look at women. Woman is an independent human and not an object.  On the other hand a cow may be sacred for some but is just live stock- property than can be bought and sold. There is no way a woman could be compared to cow.

    There is already ban on cow slaughter in J & K.  But they are too clever to be zealous where this does not suit them. Already three units of BJP in North East East have viewed against such ban on cow slaughter.  The law in North East and Goa will be different. Nobody from the saffron brigade- RSS, BJP, Bajarang Dal will ever dare to even meekly utter anything supporting the ban.  Not only this, they will not even dare shout 'Bharat Mata ki Jai'   or Vande Mataram at Lal Chowk, Shrinagar.

    They only want to take it out on a community to garner votes from another community. They are successful and thus experiment will become a practice. Rest is all a camouflage.

    Now things are different. Cow slaughter punishable with the life imprisonment. With the amendment of Gujarat Animal preservation Act of 1954.

     Now Gujarat has the toughest Law  against Cow slaughter in the Country
