Is Manmohan Singh indispensable as Prime Minister. If so, why. Is he extraordinary meritorious or other reasons. Is there no substitute or this is simply a coincidence?

Nobody is indispensable in the long run and in ultimate analysis. But there are short term situation when some one gains more importance and is indispensable for the time being. The link given in the thread explains why Manmohan singh is not presently or till next elections or even after that not replaceable.

The students in sixties had more to remember about names of British Vice Roy's, Governor Generals, Kings, queens in addition. Number of Prime Ministers will increase as History moves on. When the number is unmanageable, the names and events will be condensed like the history of ancient period, medieval times and British period.
