1984 by Orwell is my favorite novel. Long before 1984, the author visualized that one day information technology would end privacy and the dictator will assume full control on all human activities. everyone feared that 'Big brother' was watching.

Recently, a drama was to be staged in West Bengal. The M.P. Roop chand Pal, CPI(M) opposed as he felt this was anti Stalinist and could help Trinmool. Administration prevented staging of this.

It goes to credit of Budhdeva Bhattarchary, chief Minister that he voiced against such interference with cultural activities. The administration also refused that there was any political intervention in preventing staging of drama. Procedural lapse and non payment of entertainment tax were cited as reason for not permitting to stage the drama.

In this connection contrast banning of films AANDHI and KISSA KURSI KA by dictatorial totalitarian congress government led by Late Indira Gandhi.

every time a book is released it is banned ...films and dramas too are victims to this act...is banning necessary? India is a free country and every citizen have the rights to form conclusions to this after watching/reading it..then why are we banning something....in my opinion ..it is the ban that should be banned...
