Gender equality means that women are at par with men. Usually, women seek maintenance. This is because traditionally, woman is considered weaker.

But what if woman is economically strong and husband her dependent. If she deserts him, why man should not get maintenance.

A husband has been awarded maintenance in cash and use of car by a court.

    Many women are working women. They even work as senior Government officers. On their death, their husbands/ dependents get family pension. If a woman of this kind deserts her husband, he may reasonably ask for maintenance, particularly if he is unemployed or gets much less income than his wife.
