There is positive side to inflation. This is indicative of growing prosperity. Growing prosperity in some sections have raised demand for many products thereby leading to inflation. This is what Economist Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh has to say about food inflation.

Inflation has been the main reason for hike in every commodity. Thanks for sharing the link to get more insight on this issue.
This is good excuse. However, food shortage is created artificially. Vegetables are getting spoiled in storage. This is also a reason behind inflation. Black money in swiss bank is also reason behind inflation.
Rest demand and supply economics theory comes later.

Black money in Swiss bank is bad but this is not reason for inflation. On the other hand, if this is brought to India and circulated in market, there will be more inflation.

I think price is rising because of politican reasons and not anyother reason. Politicians are engulfing huge funds. When chance comes to show the fund in the Balance Sheet, they rise the market price. The money thus accumulated from us is shown as fund in Balance Sheet.
Yes, political influence is also a part of increase in prices. But i think other countries are also experiencing this problem.
By saying this our beloved PM Manmohan Singh has brought about another controversy. If he thinks that growing inflation is a sign of prosperity, then he should take into account the mass why more and more people are moving towards poverty by the raising of food prices and all other prices. What he is saying is about the already rich people who are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer.

Presently, the majority is of middle classes and new rich. Very wealthy people are few. Very poor persons are substantial but less than the middle classes. These middle class have now more money and consume more. Consequently, there is more demand and so price level rises. Manmohan Singh has just highlighted this. His diagnosis is correct. However, we also need to bring the very poor above poverty line. They must be given skill and helped to earn more income. Moreover, it is also necessary to plan production and facilities in a way that there are more public transport, public toilets, parks etc for use of common people and poor. There should be more stress on building dwelling units for the poor and discourage palatial buildings.

I agree with Gulshanji that dwelling building is mor important than palatian buildings. When a contract is given for construction of infrastructure, almost 80% of the money sanctioned by the Government is engulfed by the MLA,MP and government officers. This way or that way, the situation remains the same.
Making black money and looting the wealth of country by depriving need people, has become disease.

Our great economist Prime Minister's take on the issue could at best be described as his total failure to rein in inflation and thereby causing unimaginable misery to the greatest numbers of people in this country. This is the problem of having a technocrat as Prime minister who always tends to view things in their short-sighted ways!
