Shortening of names of celebrities, roads, colleges!

These days there is a drive in Agra against abbreviated forms of street, college names etc. For example Mahaveer Digambar Jain college is called M.D. Jain college. Mahatma Gandhi Road is called M.G. Road. Some prominent persons of Jain community gathered yesterday and took an oath they they will not use short form. One person also said that this is British conspiracy for making people forget the great men after whose name the street or college are named.

What do you think. Is this right to use short name. Even the railway station in Mumbai is called CST and not chhatrapati shivaji station.

    For me there is a melody in saying "Jawaharlal Nehru." Road. Not mere JLN Road. Gandhi ji ke naam mein Jo Mithaas hai, woh MG mein kahan saheb?

    It is true ,even we knows a man through his cast. It is wrong .Then why we keep the full name
    You are right ,it is just to forget the real name of the person or institution or any other thing else.
    The real identity of the someone is lost by this way.


    Reality should not be lost.

    The roads and places are named after celebrities and great men to constantly remind us about them. But we are more interested in roads and buildings rather than the name. At Agra, the government hospital and medical college is called Sarojani Naidu Medical college, in short S.N. Medical college. I don't think any one needing to admit a patient in the hospital has even the remotest interest in Sarojani Naidu. I need Mahatma Gandhi Road or M.G. road to move from a place to another place. All are interested in road and not in Mahatma Gandhi. So, people shorten the name for their convenience. If you ask somebody about these places using full names. you may not be even understood.
