Everyone is governed by law of the land. suppose that I go to Singapore and disfigure the walls forgetting that I am not in India. Then if I am arrested, prosecuted and get whipped, who is at fault. Law of the land applies to everyone.

But many forget this. That is why there are thousands of Indians in foreign land.

    The old adage says, 'Be like Roman while you are in Rome.' Definitely law of the land applies to all. Ignorance of law is not an excuse.

    But then is it possible for everyone to get acquainted with the rules of land quite well? I don't think so. What I would do is, do nothing abnormal and instead try to imitate other people there :lol: :lol:

    That depends on your definition of Abnormal. Law of the land will define what's abnormal. For a westerner, public display of love is not objectionable. Because it's not abnormal to them. Where as It's abnormal for our country

    When an offence or crime is committed you have to pay the price anywhere in the world, which is perfectly fair .But, you dont get to hear of abuse in the developed countries like you get to hear in places like Thailand, a few arab countries and of course Pakistan...

    Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

    There is difference only in leniency or strictness and quantum of punishment. Otherwise offenses are everywhere same. Spoiling a wall and making places dirty is offense everywhere but some countries are more strict and punishment is harsher. If you abide by rules of decency and decorum and do not cheat, you are definitely law abiding and need not even know how strict a country is.

    While visiting a foreign country one must read customs and rules before leaving. That would save one from going against rules and customs are also important because even if they do not send one to jail, they certainly put you in bad books of locals. So rules and customs are important to learn before going out.
