A controvesy has creeped in consequent on advertisement by government omitting the words 'secular' and 'socialist' from the preamble of constituton. Any way, the contents of the constitution make its amply clear that we are secular as well as socialist. It is relevant to point out that these words were added during emergency and initially not in the preamble.
It appears that making name of republic so long is a bit bizarre. would it not be better to describe our country just as 'Republic of India'.
