Ideally I would prefer our pavements free of hawkers.In our part it's not the beggars but the hawkers who have made footwalks as their permanent places of business!

No it is not good. Actually there is no question of fair or unfair.If needy people who do not have their habitats,need to sleep, where do they go.It is the govt who has to think and act seriously about it.

However, it should be stopped and they should be given the alternative as most of the public is getting affected due to it.

The pavements are meant for pedestrians and the situation is very grim in Kolkata.There was a much-hyped drive against hawkers who have permanent stalls but such is power of our destructive politics nothing came out of it!

I think everything should be used for intended purpose. Foot path are, as name suggests, for use by pedestrians. There is lack of discipline and propriety that causes inappropriate use of everything. Even gas cylinders for domestic use are being used for commercial use and even for driving vehicles.
