When we compare our Indian languages with other foreign languages, we must be very proud with our languages, because in our languages, we have words to respect our elders.

For example, in English:

"How are You?" and we use this sentence to all, elders or kids.

In our Indian languages, say Tamil we have the separate formal sentences to respect our elders,

FORMAL : "Eppadi Iru Kinga"

We often use the above sentence when we ask HOW ARE YOU? to our elders in Tamil.

INFORMAL: "Eppadi Iru Ka"

We use the above sentence when we address our friends or some one, who belongs to our age category.

So Indian languages are very special and this doesn't mean that foreign language doesn't have any importance. As a matter of fact English is the international languages and helps us to cross the barrier. In general, all languages are special, but particular as an Indian, our Indian languages are very special.

Here in this thread, members who speak Tamil can help with translation of often used Tamil words to other members. I hope this thread is useful.
