Do we need acts like Food security bill for giving adequate food ration to economically weaker section. Is the tactic of enabling people earn by enhanced skill, fixing minimum need based wages to all, stressing on right and duty to work rather than food not more logical.

Do we need an act to safeguard our resources including food grains. Some time back, apex court had directed government to distribute surplus ration among poor instead of allowing this to deteriorate. Government did not act then.

The proposed food security bill that has been introduced by ordnance route is expected to give ration to poor at subsidized rate. In fact, some state governments are already doing that. Is this move not more an election strategy than real desire to feed the poor.

Without an iota of doubt, its an election steategy.
The main problem remains that of the execution of the schemes. In spite of producing enough food we have malnutrition prevailing in the country, will the bill help eradicate it? One good thing the food security bill has brought in is the number of vacancies in the FCI.

Live in the present :)

It is noting more than election strategy. In last election congress won on the basis of MAHANAREGA. Every one know outcome of this plan.
Everything is done to grab the floating votes, nothing more :(

Once the elections are over, this act also dies a natural death like many such acts.

Although the ordnance is for election gains, once some measure is initiated, there are long term affects. MANERGA is also giving benefits to many despite shortcomings. Let us hope that Food security bill will benefit people.

They keep suckng for four years and suddenly begin with freebies in fifth, the election year. Probably this is indirect form of bribing poor people in particular to catch their votes. This should be banned with immediate effect.

To make Indians doodle, drone, lazy, so they always vote to a party who give them free food. In coming days government may be provide clothes, accomodation. wine and tobacco all free. Vote once in five year and Khao Pio Ash Karo"

True! During the beginning of current term, it was declared that the ordinance would be passed within 100 days of their coming in to power but even after 4 years passed nothing was done. Now that the elections are just around the corner, there is an increased speed to get it passed, no one is a fool enough not to think of the obvious reasons.

Some share of delay in passing the bill goes to the opposition who wastes more time in shouting, obstructing and boycotting parliament.
