Rajnikant has been a great Superstar of Tamil Cinema.  Though he is 64 years old now, he dances around trees or sings duets with ladies fit enough to be his daughters.

In spite of all attempts to show him as a very young man, he sort of looks jaded and tired.  His recent move, the much-hyped Lingaa has not set the Thames on fire, as it was expected to.

The film is a big let down for his fans, who wanted more action from him.  The romance scenes are also pretty ordinary and, according to reports, the movie might not be such a big hit, it was thought to be.

Should Rajnikant go after roles that justify his age, and simply give way to the younger lot, who are now making merry, any way?  The likes of Vijay, Ajith and Surya are already all over the place.

What should Rajnikant do now?

With time, everyone starts fading, even the most charismatic ones. They should gracefully accept their age and should take roles accordingly. The greatest example is of Amitabh Bachchan who soon realised that he was well past his prime and can no longer run around trees chasing women young enough to be his granddaughters. Rajnikant should also accept his age and should not take up roles of young hero. It does not suit him at all.

Such superstars can definitely shine in the roles of middle aged persons or as parents that justify their actual ages. But the general trend is that the fans of all these great actors treat them as ever-young and always expect them dancing and fighting with superhuman performance.

Rajnikant's Lingaa is a flop. Who wants to pay to see a grandfather run after granddaughters in romantic scenes. His stars have surely faded.

People expect every time his stars should entertain them without considering their age. People believe that if one movie become flop then the next movie will yield more success. Examples of such movies are : Sandramuki,Sivaji and Endhiran. It is published in newspapers that he asked his important co-artist whether he wants to continue the acting or drop it but the people surrounding him told please continue the work. He also expressed his feeling that he is not in a mood to dance with young artists but directors did not taken care about it they want masala and get success.

Yes, Rajnikant should act according to his age in movies. After all who would want to see a 64 yr old with all that fake makeup to make him look young..with time everything undergoes transformation, so do people including big time actors. So with all due respect Rajnikant should step back and take up roles suited to his age and make way for the new actors.

He can gracefully retire also and take up some social work.

He can satisfied with the money he had and enjoy the remaining life with peaceful. Since he had interested in God and visiting Himalayas he can continue that work.

Hope he follows the sane advice and retires gracefully. His fan clubs will always find another actor.

I doubt he will retire, since there are many senior actors who don't quit but accept roles more suited to their age.

Rajini Kant is more of a gimmicmaster than an actor with high standards of histrionics like Kamal. In reality, rajini earned popularity through his gimmicks like tossing the cigarette, and and angavastram. Such actor is bound to fade away with time. For everything there is an end and Rajni is no exception.
