How do editor of any websites come to know and compare the same article are in 2 or more website?

I mean how they decide which one is duplicate and which one is copied by another website :)

Apparently, advance search option enables editors to check copied material.

I am also in the same dilema. As an editor I have to be more careful on these things.

Well, google is the best search engine in this regard. It returns all the pages that contain the exact same words that have been submitted. This is how we come to know its copied from other sources.

But this is not the only thing, the usage of words in an article, the content, subject etc all are major indicators of originality or plagiarism. Also after spending a lot of time reviewing articles, you get familiar with the style of writing of a particular person, any drastic change in that is enough to know the article has been copied. Lats but not least, your own knowledge and ability to judge!

The style of an author is most significant as rightly pointed. An author uses some phrases and words in all his articles. If an article contains different style that is not expected from the author, it will raise a doubt that this is copied. Then the editor will proceed to check minutely for copied content.

an author may collect relevant data and facts from other websites but after that he should form his own opinion and arguments and write in his own unique style and words.

I have something more to add, some people in order to disguise their attempt at copying deliberately misspell many words, which is an obvious pointer to plagiarism!

We can know whether the article is duplicate one or not is by copy space process
