There is lot of furious reaction on Ambedkar cartoons on textbook. The cartoon shows Pt Nehru with a whip in his hand chasing Dr. Ambedkar for early drafting Constitution. Cartoons explain better. The author of cartoon simply expressed that Pt Nehru was very eager for early drafting of constitution and so he pressurized Dr. Ambedkar for the purpose.

The fury is not understandable.

Posting the cartoon of Dr. Ambedkar in the textbooks is not the good idea. He was a good man and sacrificed his life for dalits..
The cartoon is not new. This is also not insulting. This was drawn by famous cartoonist Laxman a few years after independence. This only explains sense of urgency of drafting constitution. It is funny that the current politicians are making mountain out of mole hill. The cartoon was not criticized by Nehru and Ambedkar. Cartoons explain matter easily and hence these are included in text books.

Gulshan, a little correction, the cartoon was drawn by Shankar, not Laxman.

This is a very silly thing, the book in which this cartoon is printed was published six years ago and it is only now the Republican Party activists have found reason to object to it. Seems like now that there is no other cause to make noise about, someone has managed to dig this book up. It is evident that there is simply no maturity and tolerance left in any of the present day politicians now!

It gives me creeps! What kind of a society we are living in which throttles creativity and humor? Things don't augur well!
They probably think that when there are so many living cartoons walking the earth, we don't need them in print!! :woohoo:

Sadly, our politicians have worked too hard too throttle any kind of creativity and the process is now being sped up!

A society which can't laugh at itself, is sick. Some of our greatest were known to be loving and patronizing cartoonists for their work! Things have sunk too low these days!
I think Gulshanji is right and presentation is more important. If it is presented badly or to dishonor then it is bad.
