I am sure women will be benefited if they have to go for this ultimate step. This will place them at par with women in developed countries.

I have serious doubts as to whether it is actually going to benefit the women.I was reading a news item today where the judge has ruled that a person who was asking his wife for money to fund his liquor expenses at the cost of the family cannot be termed as harrassing his wife...judges too being part of our society have the same mind set, so unless the mentality gets changed , no matter how many laws come into being on paper, there will be very little benefit reaped out of them..

The judiciary also come from the same society and have male oriented mindset. So where they have discretion, law cannot help women.

The provisions provided in the newly introduced bill for a woman are already there in many of such acts in one form or other, which are gathering dust due to lack of proper implementation. If the existing acts work well its more than enough for a woman.

Mere name of divorce is enough to shake me up. Have you heard the case of woman who was forced for divorce by a British court recently. The reason she told her child (5) that his father is a DARUBAZ mockingly and child said same words that his father is drinker in his school. She was forced to take a divorce against her will and sent to India with better upbringing of her child, of course she will be paid handsomely.

All laws are progressive in nature, as it is evident that there are many sources of laws, one which legislature makes, the other is judiciary decisions, and the most significant is customs and tradition's, these are unwritten laws, and these makes the single most hindrance for implementation of these law, speedy justice and cost effective justice means the cost of hiring lawyers in higher court is on higher side.

No doubt that all the laws are made with the idea os benefitting the people , here especially women. But, from what I see most women never get the legally written 50% of husbands share when they seperate. The long court procededings ,Lawyers and judges manipulate it in such a way that finally the woman gets fed up with the whole thing and wants to get out of it even if she does not get anything... So, when they make a law they need to have some checks and balnces as well to make it easier for it to be implemented..

You mean if the fee of advocates is not as high or the judgement is passed early, the rate of divorce will go down? A wise description although a bit complicated. I think they provide maximum opportunities to think it again before taking a decision.

At least on paper it does look good and as for divorce rates coming down, I feel it is the other way round, more women may go in for divorce since they need not fear about financial security any more, that is if it gets implemented as it is meant to be ...
