Rice basmati declines on adequate supply

New Delhi, Dec 24 (PTI) Rice basmati prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today on adequate stocks following increased arrivals from producing belts.

Non-basmati rice were also traded lower on subdued Demand.

Traders sustained selling by stockists due to sluggish demand led to fall in wholesale rice basmati prices.

Rice basmati Pusa-1,121 variety remained weak for the second straight day and lost another Rs 100 to Rs 4,200-5,000 per quintal.

Non-basmati rice, permal raw, sela and IR-8 were also traded lower to Rs 1,800-1,850, Rs 2,100-2,155 and Rs 1,670- 1,695 against last close of Rs 1,825-1,875, Rs 2,115-2,170 and Rs 1,685-1,710 per quintal.

Wheat MP (deshi) 1,650-1,765, wheat dara (for mills) 1,310-1,315 chakki atta (delivery) 1,315-1,320, atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 175, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 175, Roller flour mill 690- 710 (50 kg), Maida 770-800 (50 kilos) and Sooji 790-810 (50 kg).

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, Super basmati rice 9,000, Basmati common 5,600-5,700, rice Pusa-(1121) 4,200-5,000, Permal raw 1,800-1,850, Permal wand 1,950-2,100, Sela 2,100-2,155 and Rice IR-8 1,670-1,695, Bajra 800-810, Jowar yellow 900-1,000, white 1,900-1,950, Maize 1010-1020, Barley (UP) 1,230-1,250 and Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
