Oscar is NOT and CANNOT be a measure to judge Indian cinema or is even needed to establish the credence of our cinema. Just because a Hindi movie gets nominated to Oscars does not mean it is a great movie. So we should not at all use Oscars as a measure to value Indian movies. They are quite different in culture, ethos etc.
I agree ! These days only those movies that are popular and spoken about and more importanrtly lobbied about get nominated for Oscars...Sadly it is not the same as it was during Satyajit rays times ! However, western film nomination is still maintaining its standards since there is a larger audience !
