We see people using ‘Home’ and ‘house’ interchangeably. But they have two different meanings. A House is a structure made of lime, mortar and steel. A Home is where you live all your life. Where you are loved. It’s the place for which you long to return back at the end of the day. Its in the home you dream. Its in the Home where your dreams are fulfilled and paths are laid to the golden future. Its in this social unit, aspirations of the future citizens of the country are shaped and fulfilled.
We are aware, even the best of the seed has to be provided with ideal conditions to grow into a mighty tree. Every seed that’s sown will not become a mighty oak, if its not properly nourished.
Akin to this A home has to be endowed with those features which assist and contribute to the fulfillment of the desires and aspirations of the people living in the home.
Happiness is the vital aspect for a human being for realizing his dreams and fulfilling hid aspirations. No one who is burdened with grief and melancholy can achieve his cherished goals in any field. If a home located in a good locality succeeds in providing the necessary ambience for healthy and spiritual and mental growth of the people in the home, to a large extent, an imaginative and creative Home decoration will complete the remaining job of making the home a “Sweet Home.”
What constitutes Home Decoration.
Your decorated home mirror your personality. My friends who visit my Home invariably say, “You are everywhere. On the doors, on the arches, on the walls.” Because all the paintings on the wall and the colour schemes speak in unison about my tastes.
Home decoration is not buying furniture from a fancy furniture shop and cramming a chair here, a stool there in the entire home. Home decoration involves more than just choosing furniture. There are several other home décor items which are cost effective and highly successful in adding a touch of dazzle, a bit of chic. Have a look at some of the home furnishings other than furniture. If you have a bit of aesthetic sense, you will find every spot and every corner of the home worthy of adding your own style statement.
Window Treatments
You can give a big boost to the bare windows which look drab, dreary and wear a sterile look with a plethora of window treatments like suitable curtains and drapes and valences. Curtains of solid or subtle prints will boost the style quotient of your rooms. Wherever the windows are located be it in the kitchen, kids room, bed room or hall, they should speak loudly and clearly about the occupant.

Lighting and Lamps
Appropriate Lighting adds a new dimension to the interiors of a Home. Presently, the most economic way of lighting is with LED lights. Choose the place of display keeping in mind the size of the object. A huge wall decoration set in a narrow place will present a very bad look. Similarly, you can enhance the beauty of the picture by using an appropriate frame. Illumination through natural light and the electric lights should not create an unwanted dazzle. If necessary make use of spot lights wherever necessary.
Picture or a Poster?
A picture, even if it’s a print costs more. That’s why I prefer posters with a good quote or a line drawing to be mounted on a wall. The advantage with posters is that, it’s not always necessary to get it framed. The poster can be attached to the wall using a good wall adhesive. Before mounting on the wall, see that it’s smoothened with a cold iron to remove folds and curled corners.
Using Mirrors
Mirrors create a feeling of largeness besides creating a dramatic change in the overall appearance of the room. If the room has inadequate natural lighting, a Mirror helps in enhancing reflecting the existing light. And the saving grace is mirrors are not very expensive.If it becomes necessary to cover an uneven or an ugly spot on a wall, Mirrors are the best way to cover such blemishes.
Colour Scheme
Colours are the most effective elements in the realm of interior decoration. Color helps in making a house bright and cheerful. Colours, like solids have three dimensions. They are hue, value and intensity. There are many colour schemes in the field of interior decoration.
From the three Primary colours, Red, Blue and Yellow all colours can be obtained. The resulting colours when two Primary colours are mixed are known as secondary colours. Similarly depending upon the colours mixed. A host of colours will emerge from which one can easily choose the colour that suites his interiors.
