The parents, family circles, educational institutions, social and religious organizations all can legitimately create public opinion against pornography as well as other ills of society. Social reform and moral policing is not government job. That is why the ban by government on pornography, alcohol and smoking is undesirable.

In my state Kerala alcohol is prohibited. So those who want it will go to next state at state boarders and some prepare it in their homes very secretly. But the ban had forced them to minimise the usage.

Smoking in public places also had banned in my state. In my college days people were used to smoke in buses. So I and many also have to become a passive smoker. But after ban smoking in public vehicles have completely stopped and in public places it reduced upto 5%.

So if government takes a decission to ban porn sites and punish the defaulters severely , definitely that evil will also get minimised.Ip address tracking can easily be done nowadays and hence the defaulter can be caught very easily.

What Abid said is really a valid point but those are the things that is materialistic and can be forced to some extent. But seeing porn from a site or downloading it from a site can be done only in their homes and other places. Is it possible for the government to go to each house and check it. Also nothing can be forced on anyone. Because people who want to smoke are still smoking and people who do not want it are accepting the others and let that happen.

As Deivigan Said there is no justification in the fact that people are ready to prepare wine themselves but are not thinking of it's ill effects. This is nothing but a silly ban because if you are really concerned about the ill effects of drinking then why do not you ban the whole thing completely and ensure it strictly. When you cannot even pledge a simple task of banning in a state then how can you do it on the whole to a country which has more than 40 crore internet users???

Hope this makes sense.... B)

Yes, Deivigan, forcing never makes sense and it increases the curiosity more than earlier. This may also increase the curiosity of the gen Next and make them more prone to porn videos..Banning never helps...

Deivgan,
I don't justify this act.It is a crime in our state and will get imprisonment.By ban what happened is that frequent local alcohol consumption had reduced and the alcohol poisons heard in every year also stopped. At the same time costly foreign liquors were supplied though beverages corporation under state government. So the ban is just for common people which I don't support. But it is true that streets cleaned from the hands of drunkards after this ban.

There is no need to go to each net user's home and check it.Authority can ban sites like this by just sitting in their room using appropriate softwares.Definitely loop holes will be there for extra brains.
In our Campus we had banned some social networking sites using some filters.Like this we can control all of them.

Here what needed is the purification of minds of human society and a determined government. Many businesses will get stopped when porn sites are banned. But as social reform package it is a must.

V.Arunkumar- There should not be a ban on any movies- porn or otherwise. We only need regulation by concerned self regulatory bodies. The film producers and artists may themselves form a censor system and restrict the porn or adult content movies to adults. already there is some censorship. This suffices.

But I think the current censorship level also raised due to the abundance and influence of porn sites. Now sexy dances with twain dresses are common in all movies.Where is the censorship then? Was it the case in old films? So we are becoming more and more worst from day today.
