A recent study conducted by the University of Roehampton has found that climbing a flight of stairs one step at a time is more effective in burning calories than taking multiple stairs at a time.

The study found that the calories burned is about 300 calories on an average, if a person climbs five flights of stairs five times in a week, whereas if the person takes two steps at a time, the calorie loss is only 260 calories.

Sounds interesting. Personally I used to skip few steps and go for two at one daily. WEll, I do that because like that I can climb them speedily.. But I didn't know that it can also affect in this section. I guess I have to go for all stairs from today. Thanks for sharing.

It is true that climbing stairs burn more calories. As we have other ways to burn calories it is better to avoid climbing stairs unless it is quiet essential. It is also proved that too much climbing can lead to knee problems.. :S

I don't think too much of climbing of the stairs lead to knee problems. Rather its the other way round.
Now a days it is very difficult to find people using stairs. They use either lifts or escalators. Escalators play a vital role.
