apparently, there is lot of diversification in views of BJP governments on beef and cow slaughter. The Maharashtra govt. has banned beef sale and cow slaughter. But the Goa government is taking the party slogan- sab ka saath sab ka haath- very literally. The Goa government wants cooperation and progress of Muslims aqnd Christians also and so is keen to provide beef to the minorities by import.

Maharashtra govt did not ban the beef sale in Maharashtra. It was banned by FDA for unhygienic conditions. Which is why Maha govt. is importing beef . It has got nothing to do with BJP  or it's policies on beef and cow slaughter .

I feel that whether it is BJP, Maharashtra govt. or Goa govt. , they all are doing it for the political reasons behind it. There is always a political hand behind such decisions for filling up the vote bank.

Yes, I agree. Banning of cow  slaughter will be of no use if done only in one state...definitely there are political reasons behind such a decision.

It seems our readers are mistaken and definitely they did not go through the link article. It was clearly mentioned the ban on Beef was done by FDA, food and drugs administration. No political parties are involved.

There are a number of links given above.  The ban on cow slaughter is not only BJP agenda. The directive principles of Indian Constitution also require such ban. But this is state subject and so there cannot be same law everywhere. In Maharashtra, there was already a ban on slaughter of cows. Now the ban has been imposed also on slaughter of buffaloes. The religious angle can also not be denied. The Hindu organizations like VHP and Bajarang Dal favor such ban. But it is not feasible to impose such ban in states like Goa, Kerala, North East etc where majority is non Hindu.

There is another aspect. Man is most selfish animal on Earth. He will not let any animals- cow or buffalo or sparrows- live unless of benefit to human race. Now bullocks have been replaced by tractors. Cow dung manure has been replaced by fertilizers. Hindus also prefer buffalo milk to cow milk. The animals no more of use for muscle power or milk or other use can only be slaughtered for meat. It will also not be irrelevant to point out that even the cow worshiper Hindi/ Jain community indulge in manufacture and export of meat products including beef. One more point. The term Beef covers cow as well as buffalo.

Regarding economic aspects of such ban, see:

True, cow or buffalo meat eaters are there in some sects of Hinduism. Beef eating is not restricted to a few communities.

As a matter of fact, buffalo is sacrificed in many temples including one in Nepal, one in Gauhati and many other. Obviously, Hindus eat beef (buffalo meat) as prasadam. (residue of offering to deity).

Gulshanji has very nicely explained how animals are now not needed because of machines taking over their functions. So the religious protection now may look irrelevant. Animals are like properties which have to be profitable. If not they will get disposed off. Sounds harsh but that is the reality. and bans are not going to prevent but only establish new routes for their disposals. For diehard supporters it is a coincidence tat BJP ruled states  are imposing such bans.

Very true animal sacrifices are prevalent in many Hindu temples especially in rural areas.

Govt. of Maharashtra claims that beef ban is not a religious issue but economic one. when asked why only cows slaughter is banned, the govt. representative told the High Court  that this is only beginning and ultimately even goat slaughter would be banned.  We don't know how far this is true.
