It is shameful to know that in many states in India , the martyrs who have given up their life for the nation, their family members especially the wife are denied for years the benefits that are promised to them like petrol pumps, plot of land etc, to help them in their lives. It is being reported in a news channel that in Karnataka an army widow is being "insulted" from 12 years by being denied a promised plot on some flimsy ground or the other. The story is same in other states also. I blame the Indian army also for not having an institutional mechanism to coordinate the fulfillment of such promises.

Can there be more shameful act than this by our netas and babus? All right thinking persons must condemn it strongly.

The Indian army ensure that the family pension, gratuity, provident fund and insurance dues are given speedily to the martyrs's family. The army has no direct control on the various benfits like petropl pumps that are in addition to entitlement from defence services. The Indian army cannot be blamed for such extra benefits by state governments.

There is nothing new. Those who were displaced at the time of Nagarjuna sagar dam in AP more than 50 years ago are still waiting for rehabilitation.

Why not? Should they not use their clout and influence to help their ex soldier's family. If their is a will such coordinating frameworks can be created. This is passing thebuck.

" The Buck stops here" was the notice at the entrance of late President Roosevelt's office. We need such system

No more excuses. Action till fulfillment is needed, whatever be the mechanism. But for action by Supreme Court , Narmada Dam oustees would be also suffering fate of Nagarjun Sagar dam dispalced. There is supreme indifference in our governing system towards the weak and deprived.

I don't say "indifference" which is a glorified term for "Sleeping". Jago Sarkar Jago

The army record office and associated offices attached to regiments maintain everything on the entitlements and ensure that the family gets. The various benefits by state governments are additional and in fact not even related to the service. If you stretch so far the scope of army personnel, this will lead to absurd situation. It is not that army do not take any interest in these things but you can't blame them.

I will explain this another way. A university awards lap tops and scholarship to a student. The university staff will be responsible for this. Now suppose that some outside agency or individual decides and give reward to meritorious students. The university does not come in picture in such cases. You can't blame the university staff if the 'outsiders' do not give promised reward.

Now another example of martyred soldier. Son of a friend of mine namely Lt. Ashish Deva died in jammu in a mine blast. The civic authorities decided to install a statue of the martyred defence officer. So far they have not done. The army cannot interfere in this matter as the instalment of statue is not related to army.

This is an evil generated by thoughtless system. Why this distribution of different jurisdictions to different offices? Is it a herculean task to see that everything is done by one agency?

There is nothing wrong in system. There are certain entitlements that are given by government to family of deceases soldier. There is foolproof system for speedy disposal of this. Army is not responsible beyond this. Army cannot ask others not to offer various benefits to deceased soldiers' families. There has to be a limit to everything.

To elucidate, you get some benefits on writing articles in Boddunan. Now some one wishes to encourage good writing. So he offers to give some additional reward on best article published in Boddunan. If I don't get this reward, how will Maverick be held responsible for this? He is answerable only for benefit given by Boddunan and nothing beyond that.

If that 'some one' channelises his reward through Maverick, the confusion can be eliminated. The required thing is to have the intention to simplify the things.
