With due respect to Usha, if we have to watch Indian news then BBC will not serve the purpose. Similarly, Discovery, National Geographic etc are good channels but they include too little from India.

I know that BBC does not cover all news items ...However, there are enough number of Indian news channels that serve the purpose .In fact Discovery and NG have many many episodes based n India and I have learnt a lot about our culture and tradition from these channels. If you watch them regularly you will know...

BBC India covers more and better news covering India.

That is altogether a different proposition. The issue is whether BBC covers more of India or not.

From where did you get that from? I watch it all the time and have never come across anything offensive so far....In fact their programs on Indians is far better than what is done here by our own people, they really go into details..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Absolutely Usha. Additionally, BBC covers a host of features which no Indian channels cover. And it goes without saying , the veracity of BBC features are unquestionable.

Whether we call it 'idiot box' or shower upon it any number of choicest adjectives it would remain as it is. Truth remains it portrays and reflects the choice - the collective cravings of the mass. I know so many to be sanctimoniously bursting into holy after watching an inane episode of a serial or a mindless talk show to invariably return to its next one and this goes on and on. What does it expose? We are admiring it silently and insincerely and blasting it vociferously- the height of hypocrisy! I completely agree with Usha and Rambabu that BBC and a few named by Usha still rank very high in terms of quality quotient. We got to honestly ask ourselves what our choices precisely are before rubbishing this medium.

Thank you said by: rambabu, usha manohar

Absolutely Chinmoy. It's important for us to recognize  our own choices before rubbishing a particular medium.

Yes our choice also matters here. If we don't want to see all those rubbish things then there are also few channels and program available which are really good.
