    Though India is not in the list, let me say a few words about my state....
    It's a state of 3.5 crore population. In 2 days of Onam celebrations, this state alone spend 200 crore money for alcohol in beverage corporation. This statistics doesn't include third onam or 4th onam...just 2 days. It also doesn't include alchohol consumed from hotels...
    My state is drinking a lot!!

    This is festivity. The people do not drink regularly. But in the countries topping the list, alcohol consumption is a daily routine.

    These countries are in cold climate. In India also, there is local wine in hilly and cold area. Indian tribal and hill people also take wine. But I feel that their consumption has not been considered as the wine is local or Desi and not English.

    I also thought its more in Punjab but the top most state in alcohol consumption is Maharashtra... Strange but true...

    kerala is India's tippler country. It has the highest per capita consumption - over eight litres (1.76 gallons) per person a year - in the nation, overtaking traditionally hard-drinking states like Punjab and Haryana
