    Raaghavan Krishnamurthy- How will you like the idea of instituting an award in the name of Dhyan Chand. Dhyan chand is a historic figure and most probably, he cannot be given the award. If it were so, Emperor Ashok may be eligible for Bharat Ratna.

    Hi gulshan kumar ajmani , your point is correct, but couldn't completely agree with you.

    As a matter of fact "Dhyan Chand Award" is already there, to honor the sports people for their lifetime achievement in sports and games.

    But this doesn't stop Dyan Chand receiving Bharat Ratna, because it is not just a sports award, and it is an awarded for the highest degrees of national service and I am sure you will accept, that Dyan Chand is an eligible candidate.

    Coming to the statement that he is an historic figure, we can accept the fact to an extent, but many famous people in India under his era received Bharat Ratna, if that is the case, then he automatically qualifies for it.
