The Chinese have bowled a googly at the new government in India. So far there is no response from our govt. They are cleverly sayong that it is a favour they are granting to J&K and Arunachal Pradesh residents if they want to travel to China instead of not granting them a visa at all. Self respect or Trade is the choice.

Actually they consider some parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh as part of China. So why issue visa to own citizens. Once, C.M. of Arunachal Pradesh was denied visa. after denial, Chinese embassy authorities told the C.M. that he could visit China whenever he liked. He needed no visa as no country would give visa to own citizens. Thus, stapled visa is definitely a compromise.

However, I wish to know the position of residents in Pak occupied Kashmir. Will our government issue visa to them? This is just for curiousity.

I think both sides of Kashmiris visit the other part of Kashmir in buses after getting visas.

India considers 'Azad Kashmir' part of J & K and thus the residents of Azad Kashmir are Indian. I wonder how India can give VISA to them.

Chinese cosider Arunachal Pradesh their part still they issue visas in a stapled manner.

The Chinese give a visa on a separate paper that may be stapled to passport. The normal practice is to endorse VISA on passport itself. As they consider Arunacal Prades residents as their own citizens, they do not recognize Indian passport and so issue VISA o a separate paper. Similarly, India considers residents of Azad Kashmir as India citizens and so VISA cannot be endorsed on Pakistani passport held by them. What India does? A visa on a separete paper (to be stapled) or endotrsement o Pakistani passport. If te visa is endorsed on passport, this will be inconsistent with Indian stand that Azad Kashmir is de jure Indian territory. I just wanted answer for my curiousity.

But it has been also been stated many times that India would be willing to convert cease fire line into international border and thus it may not like to have Azad Kashmir . My search on the net seems to indicate that visa is required to travel into India by AK people.

But is this endorsed on Passport issued by Pakistan Government? If so, India indirectly accepts Pakistan's claim on AK.

And if Pakistan is doing same to J&K citizens then they are also accepting India's claim. But visa is only an enabling facilitation. Obviously it does not affect each others claim. The Chinese have cleverly introduced a twist in it. But what is the message UAE gave when it issued stapled visas to Azad Kashmiris wanting to visit UAe. UAE is not an involved party.

Thanks for your valuable inputs. Practically, J & K is in India and A.K. in Pakistan. Recognizing this reality while issuing VISA is right action.

While we are on the issue, it is a mystery as to why Indian Government announced a cease fire on the present LOC when Indian troops where pushing the Pakistanis and would have cleared them from whole of J&K?
