Because Linux and unix are the OS which don't allow .exe files to run in their OS. Virus are always executable so they can't enter.

Abid,
Lohit is right..exe file wont run in linux. One of my friend has got both Linux and Windows in the system. So whenever he puts a pendrive in the system, he will use linux so that .exe cant work and no virus enters.
If my information is correct, i think a software is needed to run .exe file of windows in linux
I have a doubt does any body have proof that virus has only .exe extension. I don't think so , Virus can be in any form . Hoax,Malware & etc doesn't need EXE Extension.
well, some viruses are known for linux too....but,due to its open source it can easily preventable.its free thats why nobody cares about writing virus for linux. B)
I have heard that if you can create virus in linux you will win cash rewards for that. But am not sure, my teacher said to me..
yes, linux is a virus proof OS.Its really nice. But drawback of this OS is we cannot access exe file.As in most of works these files are accessed. In this linux we no need to install audio and video drives. they are already will be in that package.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race.

very nice piece of information shared by everyone. Thanks for sharing.
Can I have both Linux and Windows XP installed on the same hard drive?
