DO YOU HAVE A STRONG HEART?

Heart is the most vulnerable human organ. We make I work endlessly without giving it relief through out life. So quality of  life is maintained by a healthy heart.

 

Consult a cardiologist when you start getting headache, giddiness, palpitation, pen in chest, pain in left arm, shoulder neck, back, breathlessness, recurring attack of cough, weakness, missing heart-beats etc.

 

In case of family history of hypertension and diabetes and heart problems, one must be aware of the possibility of heart problem.

 

In case of long-term uncontrolled hypertension the end organs, e.g., heart brain, kidney suffer and get less nourishment due to smaller lumen of arteries. Occasionally arterial lumen s blocked by low-density fats, causing heart ischaemia, paralysis or kidney failure, etc.

 

In most of the cases the culprit is unused low-density fat traveling in our arteries, capillaries. High-density fats are relatively less dangerous and are protective for heart.

 

How to take care of heart?

  1. Control blood pressure near 120/80 mm of Hg.
  2. Control blood sugar between F-110 pp 160g%
  3. Control lipid cholestrol within180 mg% and HDL between 45-70 mg%. Maintain ratio of total cholestrol / HDL below 5.
  4. Exercise 45 minutes, walking is optimally best exercise for everybody.
  5. Consume heart-friendly foods and maintain healthy weight.
    1. cooking medium mustard oil/ olive oil/ coconut oil/ groundnut oil/ gingelly oil/ homemade ghee ½ kg/ month-2 tsp/ day.
    2. Nuts- walnut, cashew nut, almond, etc. within limits.
    3. Oily fish.
    4. All fruits and salads, vegetables.
    5. Sprouts
    6. Rajama, Udadh dal
    7. Flax seed- 1 tsp/ day.
    8. Isabgol husk 1tsp before meals.
    9. Jawar, bajra, whole-wheat rotis, brad
    10. Lemon grass tea
    11. Cinnamon, ginger, mint.

 

  1. Check blood pressure, blood sugar every week till it is normal. Then do it once a    month. Check ECG once a year. Stress test once every two years.

 

Now a days we see a lot of advertisements for healthy cooking oils on TV. Visual impact is always effective. But these advertisements are displayed without checking their validity. Credibility of such advertisements is not checked by media.

 

Very few people believe in such advertisements for cosmetics, but almost everybody believes in advertisement for healthy oil. All traditional oils are good for us. Consuming wrong type of oils is an open invitation to diabetes and hypertension.

 

We see a lt of cardiac patients coming from heart problems even after earlier Angioplasty, with medicated stents or coronary bypass surgery because they are only emergency cardiac revascularization procedures. They don not prevet future recurrences.

 

To prevent cardiac element in future, the patient must have lifestyle management by changing the following:

  1. Diet
  2. working hours
  3. exercise
  4. medicines
  5. avoiding smoking and alcohol consumption.
