Tobacco is injurious to health in its every form cigarette, biri or chewing it. Every pack containing a tobacco product has a written warning on it that consumption or use of tobacco is dangerous and may lead to grave consequences but most consumers do not look at that note or avoid it totally. Use of tobacco is restricted in public places according to statuary rules since long but most of the people and law enforcement agencies do not care much about such rules. The fact is tobacco in any form be it through smoke or taken orally leads to certain harms way that ends no where but deadly diseases like cancer of lungs and throats etc.

How does it begin?
Smoking begins as a fashion initially when a young boy smokes his first cigarette and reaches to a stage soon where he cannot stay away from it. Once some one becomes very addicted he cannot quit easily unless he has a very strong willpower as well as strong support of self-suggestion, social help and family support.

As I said most people who use tobacco in any form know about the health problems those are unavoidable part and unavoidable, every cigarette smoked makes life shorter by 5-10 minutes at an average according to studies conducted over the years. The impact on health of a person is directly proportionate to use of quantity of tobacco one consumes per day. Moreover, the fact that there is a person dying every ten minutes somewhere in the world due to smoking of a cigarette is alarming. Most persons are aware that they are moving fast toward the dangerous end where cancer is waiting for them. However, they are least bothered at this point of time about their future problems.

You can quit easily
Yes, that is right; even I too was a heavy smoker until eight years before but it did not take me more than a minute to quit a decades’ old habit. Actually, the lifestyle of people makes them habitual of smoking as most smokers become addicted to smoking in young age especially in teenage, depending upon the company they keep. Even one cigarette can make one addicted to smoke for rest of his life. Therefore keeping off from this deadly habit is the only solution to not to fall in its trap.

This is one big question and is not as easy to answer as it appears. However once you have decided to quit it there should be some basic points, which may help you quit and come out of this bad habit. Let us discuss some of the points those may help you in this matter-
Education- One must know the harmful effects of tobacco to keep off and let others also know about it.
Self-regulation – Strong will power to stay away from tobacco is another solid way to quit smoking or other tobacco products.
Social regulations- This is also a social responsibility of every right minded person to stop people from smoking smokers in public places. We should not be rude but offering an advice with a smile may not hurt some one that much, he may even quit as well.
Medical support- This is another method of help quitting. The hospitals where they treat such addicted persons are know as rehabilitation centers where patients are kept on medicines for certain periods of time to help them getting rid addiction.

Most people think tobacco is relaxing
This is common belief in tobacco users that smoking or chewing is relaxing or soothing, which helps them work in a better way. In fact, this is only a temporary relief due to intake of nicotine, which relaxes blood vessels once mixed in blood. Such mental relax is not long lasting and results in only increased doses of nicotine and makes you more addicted. Longer durations of smoking and tobacco chewing only worsen the condition of user to an extent where he reaches to a point of no return therefore, this is better to leave it as early as possible.

Tobacco is simple way of committing suicide
Tobacco in any form brings user to different serious health related problems therefore they are advised to quit as early as possible to remain fit and healthy. There are certain norms, which if followed strictly would keep this health hazard away from users-
• The rule of selling tobacco products to minors made stricter than what it is today. Rule breakers punished and brought to book without fail carrying heavy punishments.
• .According to government acts sale of tobacco within 100 meters is prohibited of an educational institute but no one is there to monitor these rules. There should be some one responsible and answerable to public of such incidents. This in fact is a crime against society because even passive smoking is dangerous to health.
• Every product has a sign of warning but not prominently displayed, this should be mandatory to make warnings in bolder letters than products’ logos and signs.
• Smoking in public must attract stricter punishments.
• The quantity of tar and nicotine should indicate in bold letters on every packet containing tobacco products.

We have some interesting facts about smoke related problems.
There are almost thirty-eight kinds of cancers, which may affect a smoker including mouth, lungs, upper respiratory tract, larynx, stomach related, pancreas, and renal. The death count due to smoking which leads to cancer in our country is more than a million every year. More than fifty percent of smokers are illiterate and eighty percent of them come from rural areas whereas only twenty percent of them are from urban or semi urban areas. Some of the smokers spend more than one third of their income on smoking and tobacco chewing habits.

In the end, there is a request for the smokers- that they should avoid smoking in front of children because children become tempted too easily. This may only increase the number of smokers since they may take it as a fashionable hobby.
