Actually, the metabolism of sugar depends a lot on age too. If you are younger than 25 years, you need not worry, if you are between 26 and 45 then you need to worry. And if you are above this age, do cut down your intake. This is in general but not applicable to those who do yoga regularly or are very much physically active.
But also having sugar much is should be stoped. Due to sugar hair loss occur, cough and many health problems occurs. so we need to in take sugar in limited quantity

Taking more sugar in coffee or tea will changes the taste and we are inviting diabities. Some times excess sugar tea or coffee make a bit headache also.
