Now Mayawati is trying to give this issue a communal colour! :blink: Just because Ms. Khobragade is from scheduled community, she feels that she is being such inhuman treatment quite forgetting that even ex-president Abdul Kalam was treated insultingly by US officials and the government did not raise even a finger! Compared to him, Meera Shankar etc. Ms. Khobragade is getting much more support from our govt. so why is Mayawati making such comments? :blink:

Yes I too heard her screaming in the assembly, she is getting ready for elections ...Even George Fernandes got the same treatment as Abdul Kalam ! Abdul Kalam has become a pariah for congress since he is the one who told Sonia Gandhi that he will have to consult the supreme court before giving consent for her to bevome the PM...so they will do nothing to him !

So it does seem to be the case of trying to garner support from all factions in view of forthcoming elections! Otherwise, they would have taken similar efforts when others were maltreated by US officials. Anyway, the treatment that has been meted out to Ms Khobragade is really humiliating and unfair. But my point is, during such events, there should be a common and uniform policy of reacting to them, and not one thing for one person and another for someone else! At least the government is voicing out its outrage strongly, is something!

There is an added twist to the whole affair now with the maid of the diplomat Devyani's lawyer accusing Devyani of illtreating her and also payin a very meager salary making her work all through the week.So US authorities have more material to hold Devyani in custody and if charged she could even go to prison for 15 years...No wonder our governments stand is slowly shifting! This also throws a new light on how politicians and bureaucrats ill treat their domestic helps and others under them..

The charges on Devyani that Sangeeta, Devyani's maid was paid less than what was shown by Devyani in her accounts were there from the beginning. Sangeeta fled because of ill treatment by Devyani. It seems, facts are wholly different from what we know. American government is very firm about Devyan's release.

Now U.S.A. is raising security concerns even on internal matters of India. Latest is on Modi rally in Mumbai. The location of the rally is a security risk according to Americans. It may also be recaled that U.S. diplomats had been invited to the rally but the invitation withdrawn in view of dispute on Indian diplomat's arrest and misbehavor with her in U.S.A.
