wear traditional dress atleast on festival days.

    I see a lot of people wearing Kerala Sari and dhoti on CHingam month (first month of Malayalam - Onam season) and on November first - when Kerala state was formed. Otherwise it's rare to see that off-white sari, except during functions.
    Yet some ladies prefer to wear it in churches and temples


    Deepavali (The Festival of Lights) November 13, I would like the people who celebrate Diwali to wear traditional dress at least for an hour (while praying).


    The awareness to stick to tradition is on the increase now a days.

    Are fridays special in Tamil nadu?


    Don't know exactly, I think they think Friday is Homely & Devotional Day. Women have their head bath & saree on every Fridays almost. What about Kerala?

    Arun Selvan, I haven't purchased anything. Since during festival, there is much crowd, I will be having my happy shopping after Deepavali for my Christmas celebration. I will try to purchase traditional wear also.

    Robert i accept most of them prefer friday as an important day in a week in TN. I just want to know whether the word "Homely Friday" refers to a local holiday or something else?

    Our India became popular and attracted by the foreigners only by seeing our traditional activities and traditional clothes we wear. But now a days everyone are adopting foreign culture and changing our traditional look. So guys atleast on the festival days let us wear traditional dress. I hope many of you will do this to make our India look beautiful. :)


    Today is Deepavali (Diwali) (The Festival of Lights). Could you please let me know whether you wear traditional (Ethnic) wear today while celebrating festival?

    It was nice to see all the colorful silk sarees coming out yesterday for diwali...most ladies wear a silk sarees here after the traditional oil bath..

    Yes, I too like to dress well and dress traditionally in festivals. People should change themselves on the day of festival. Family feels good to see in different form. :) :)
