Lack of competetion is what led Air India to perform the way it did for several years...It is only in the past 15 years that there have been more airline companies but old habits die hard and AirIndia and IA goes on as before.....So competetion , I guess helps only those who want to do better in life not those who are complacent and drunk with power..

 

I have seen even in Sports ,those who were in top place were ruined because of complacency.

There should always be competition in every field.  Witness what is happening to the cell phone industry and to the service providers.  Though there has been some increase in costs, the usage of the cell phones has increased only because of competition.  Yes, there are cartels, but some brave man will always be there to come up with some innovative product and reduce prices. 

We also have the example of LG, that forced the others to drop the prices of the television sets and other electronic goods. 

In schools, colleges and so on, we should encourage competition in every field.  Let there be no limit to competition.

It's only due to competition, new ways and new inventions are possible. In the absence of competition , humans would have been still in the Cave age.

True..no competition leaves everyone towards complacency and mediocrity but competition bring out the best and improves the standards in every walk of life.

Necessity is the mother of invention .then a chan follows. One invents. Another invents another which has an edge over the previous invention. And this goes on. This is possible only due to competitive spirit.
