Politics, in these days has become a business.Changing parties like a chameleon  is more profitable. Every Tom , dick and harry can join politics. It does not need any educational qualification.

Which ever party pays them  more, these will join.

Gulshan was making an idealistic statement that too 7 years ago which is difficult to put into practice now, given the conditions of university campuses these days. Students have hardly any ideals except probably gain easy fame, name and money !

Yes. The more a candidate commits murders and other crimes is the required Qualification to join politics.

This the condition of polities in India. very sad indeed.

Like Rambabu, you also seems to be getting carried away. There are many politician who doesn't have any criminal records but are good politician. 

Coming back to the topic I feel that ideally students should take interest in politics. They should be politically aware as that awareness will help them to bring changes. In fact many of the present political leaders had dabbled in politics in their students days. That experience had helped them in their present. But as Usha rightly mentioned, nowadays the students union is more about hooliganism. Many of the leaders of the student's union take less interest in matters related to students welfare but take interest in spreading unrest with their half baked knowledge. These student union do not even let a government do its duties peacefully.

I am of the opinion politicians with criminal records are more likely to be elected than those who without criminal records, because they have more illicit funds and enough hooligans at their disposal to force and threaten the electorate.

I differ with you . Students during their education phase should concentrate on only education. Nothing else.

 I guess it is too much to do expect rambabu to read the posts thoroughly before adding his two bit which is evident from his above post. If he had taken the trouble to read Jabeen' post he would realise that .. Honestly this is becoming highly irritating !

In fact it changes the whole Outlook of these student leaders who are chosen by political parties mainly to do menial work for their party.  These students get  steady pocket money and the very fact that they are recognized by the local leaders makes them.gighly arrogant and they start behaving like mafia dons on the campus having their own mini courts ...It is a very dangerous trend that the politicians have started by corrupting young impressionable minds !
