The tip depends on amount of bill and time spent. Usually, I give one note and don take any change in return. For example, if the bill is Rs. 280/- I shall give three Rs. 100 notes and not take anything back. If I give Rs. 500/- note, I shall receive back only two Rs. 100/- notes. In short, I pay in round sum above the actual bill, balance being tip.

In five star hotels, you donot need to tip... This would be included in the bill itself.... In recent times, I find many of the hotels are following the same process....

But coming to small hotels, they expect tip..

Thanks 'n' Regards,
Deepti.
Not only we have to tip the waiters but also the security who helps us to park the vehicle.
i too tip only if the children works. B)

Tip and other such practices are contribution of British rule. Tip was called Baksheesh. Such payments are now a routine. If you do not tip, this will be considered odd.

@Gulshan

I am not against giving it but what I want to highlight is the shameful abuse and gross exploitation of children by roadside eateries and most of the working hands are kids and they don't get any tips either!!
