From the images that archaeologists have unearthed early man was a meat eater and he hunted and also ate everything that was available like roots,fruits and leaves.It was only later that he began to grow things and became an agriculturist as well besides being a hunter.

Of course. when you do not know cooking and first time see fire, what will you do. You can only warm yourself and the food. You warm the raw meat. This is called roasting. Boiling comes later. You put the eatable in water and boil.

Early man just roam from one jungle to another in search of food.They kill animals and eat its flesh and also pluck fruits from the trees and survive.
