During the riots on the CST, about 7 police women constables were molested and beaten along with many of their male counterparts. I did not see a single post here in the forum who wrote about it, no one felt any outrage against such heinous crimes against the people who keep our society safe. So why are people raising such hullabaloo over this incident. All the guy did was go up on the stage and present Raj with a rose, he was not doing anything sycophantic like his senior police officers do!

This incident was drowned in the big news of riots in Assam, harassment of N.E. persons in some states, Pakistan involvement in the riots and other trouble. Actually, every news does not figure in discussions. This is just a chance. The harassment of police constables was also very heinous. Raj Thakre asked for resignation of Police commissioner also because the police force especially ladies were targeted and not protected. The constable actually wanted to thank Thakre for his support to police. However, his action lacked decorum and having figured in media, some disciplinary action has also been taken against him.

Maybe his action did lack decorum, but he still does not deserve disciplinary action, only a warning is enough. Who really deserve such action is officers like Arup Patnaik who actually harassed his own officers who caught the rioters and asked them to be freed! In all this chaos and anarchy, the morale of the police forces is at an extreme low and the only people who are doing something about is Rak Thackeray so if he wanted to thank Thackeray, there is nothing wrong in it.

Disciplinary action does not imply very serious action. Asking for explanation is first step. After receiving explanation, further action regarding issue of warning or something else is considered.

But in most cases nothing happens that matters. Even the suspension is not a punishment , at the most they are sent to police lines for cooling their heels off. They always come back in a fortnight or so to be placed in a better spot.
