I think it is exceptional. Otherwise smoking and drinking and continues to cross century mark some rare gene of that person must have.

Not at all an exception. Those who cultivate healthy habits can lead a long and healthy life.

I have seen many old people who remain fit because they do exercise daily and try to keep themselves happy and tension free.

On the contrary on the following link one man not drank liquid for over 70 years and able to live and stay healthy.

Then it is not a wonder. Not having any bad habits will make anybody live a longer and happy life. But the thread says with all the addictions if one lives beyond hundred, certainly amazing.

We generalize that smoking causes cancer.  It is true that tobacco causes cancer and so every one should avoid. But every one may not be affected equally.  Sir winston Churchill was a chain smoker but he lived long.  Longevity of life does not depend only on a single issue like smoking.  This depends on way of living, thinking, emotional stability, physical activity, food habits etc.

Absolutely sir. Sir Winston Churchill was a chain smoker. But the ill effects of Chain smoking were annulled by constant activity. Activity of some kind or other will help in boosting your immune system. Another aspect is activity drives away monotony and boredom, which are the breeding places for stress and strain.

That is strange he is chain smoker and live long, so there is something to it as he might have been using rare cigars so that it would affect less than notmal cigarettes.

There is nothing strange in this. If everything is done in limits and with regular habits one can lead a long and tension free life.

I donot think an intoxicated person even if good habits and stress free life would going to live long. It is impossible. It is not an example to live long.
