    I have a fixed phone of BSNL (then Deptt. of telecom) since 1991. For some time, i had also internet service of BSNL but now i have Tikona network service. The BSNL fixed phone also serves as residential proof and hence I agree with Preethi Zinta's ad of MTNL. My parents found Land Line more convenient. Many contact on he fixed phone and so this needs not be surrendered. .


    I agree about proof of residence but in my case I stay here for only for a few months every year so it does not serve my purpose.


    we may consider that mobile phone is personal whereas the fixed phone is for family or an establishment. In other words, fixed phone is for collective use unlike mobile phone which is personal. Keeping this in view, one may decide.


    In my case this "I" stands for whole of my family me and wife as we two move every where together.

    Why?! One of my friend recently got BSNL connection at his home without any issues.. Yes for internet connection. :whistle:

    We do have a landline connection i think it is good for internet as well as for calling plus its bill is used as a address proof at some govt. offices.....

    I will call this discussion a matter of coincidence. I was just thinking of getting a landline connection only for the net connection purpose as you have done it. My two brother-in-laws also have landline phones that they use for only internet connection. So I don't think you are going against the tide.

    Ours is 30 years old connection my father wanted to remove the connection but I denied it and said I will take net connection from this land line connection. :)

    We have landline connection (BSNL) at our home town Madurai even if all of us have mobile connection. It is more than like a phone. Its like a family member.

    In our neighborhood I have seen that in one house maximum days of a month the line remains death but they do not surrender as they think that thay are comfortable with it than mobile.
