Refugees are illegal immigrants and will have to treated as such and when legal immigrants are expected to toe the line I don't see why illegal immigrants should be given no rights whatsoever other than sent back to their country of origin like it is done in all other countries....Both Pakistan and Bangladesh are independent nations and they need to be treated like any other nation..

I agree Usha. Illegal immigrants should be sent back to the country of their origin.

True...there is no need to treat the immigrants with kid gloves, be it legal or illegal. Everyone is expected to toe the line according to the country's laws. But alas, because of the very same attitude of congress party for so many decades, these people get showered with treats such as ration cards, pan cards, Aadhar cards and what nots!

The issue in India is not like that of Australia.  We have refugees and not just immigrants.  Moreover, the countries- India, Pakistan and Bangladesh- belong to same subcontinent and have same or identical culture unlike the immigrants to Australia.

Our problems are unique. we need not discuss the issues in Australia or elsewhere. Most probably, these have little or no relevance to Indian conditions.

Right sir, I agree our problems are unique, we have lost Assam to bangladesh without fighting a war, on the verge of losing, WB, Nagaland, manipur and Bihar as the reports suggest and almost all Northern and west India bubbling with infilitrators. Yes we should not follow Australia and warn them verbally but the time is for solid action before we lose the game without fighting properly.

If India continues to develop faster than Bangladesh then people from there will willy nllly enter India to take up menial and other allied jobs which Indians will vacate as they go up the economic ladder. This is the story of nations like USA-Mexico , Europe and North African countries etc. Religion has nothing to with it. Thousands or lakhs of Nepalese work ad stay in India. The culture is same of the sub continent. Even Australia which at one time was  nakedly racist by not allowing Asians excepting Anglo Indians has today thrown open its doors to Asian immigrants if it has to develop. The trouble with the argument that Muslims will overtake Hindus because numerically their rate of growth is higher is not a mathematical sum. Hindus know how to protect their superiority when necessary. Was'nt Buddhism banished from India without bloodshed when it threatened Hinduism. A remote possibility  far too distant in future is being propagated by persons who lack confidence in themselves. Economic migrations happen all over the world. Does'nt Christian US allow migrants from other religion countries to fuel their development. Why are you scared?

Youre right, the developed countries allow them officially but India welcomes all and sundry. Everyone is welcome without any official papers and welcome to HELP THIS COUNTRY GROW (in numbers) btw, the US and countries like Australia, the UK, etc have very strict immigration rules, they allow only the people which they actually need. And migrants have no voting rights, not at all despite having all other rights.

More importantly Western countries and in fact all countries allow only those immigrants who contribute positively to their economy and inspite of that they still have problems like they have in Germany and France ...India goes all out to woo illegal immigrants with one purpose only to get their votes after which they are left to their own devices ..

True Usha. After going through your response and the other members, I feel it's high time to end this liberalistic attitude and put up a hard stance against these immigrants. They had a Royal treatment  courtesy previous governments. Enough is enough.

Your contention that illegal immigration is encouraged to get votes is too far fetched. It is one of those perennial perceptions that prevail in Indian electoral calculations. The amount of illegal migration that takes place into USA and other developed countries is significant. Every few years amnesty schemes are announced in USA to regularise these illegal immigrants which includes many Indians also (I know a few of them). Economic deprivation forces citizens to migrate to better economies esp if they happen to be across the borders. As the problem is perceptional no solution will ever satisfy its supporters who will go on and on with mythical solutions. One of the way of arresting such lmmigration is to help Bangladesh develop its economy at a faster rate than present. India does not have liberalistic rules because in our preset state of economic development who would like to migrate to India when its own educated class migrate at the drop of a hat from Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Mumbai etc. even when they have good jpbs. That is oK with you but reverse migration from poorer countries is a problem. Or is it some hidden bias?

Any immigration done should come within the barometers of the law of that country or else it is illegal.Indians going abroad and being accepted by them is done because they contribute to the economy positively and are not a burden on the economy.India is still a developing nation and we have enough poverty and problems not to add on more which becomes a gauntlet since most of the so called refugees indulge in anti social activities either because of economic reasons or because of their misguided beliefs...Ideally, if the government wants to help immigrants they should have a law in place where it is done legally and not like iit is being done by political parties now just to get their votes..
